Jaypee instruments are made of stainless steel, this steel is very difficult to work with. It is spring hardness is obtained by cold forming or cold working. Experienced and highly skilled personal is required in instrument manufacture, due to fact that steel must be skillfully processed.

 

Jaypee pliers are manufactured from stainless steel. While stainless steel has superior corrosion resistance, it will discolor if exposed to higher than recommended concentration of certain chemicals like acids.  

 

Some instruments are made of carbon steel. This steel is much more easier to handle and work with. But these instruments have plated surface of nickel or chrome to increase their corrosion resistance. These instruments are not in demand because they do not keep the modern aseptic principles, due to many drawbacks like peeling of nickel and lack of appearance. Instruments made of this steel are very sensitive to chemicals and temperature than stainless steel.
